I spoke with Dr. Hannah Stokes about the history of psychoanalysis
and Freudian Theory. This podcast will give you a background in where Freudian
theory came from, what is still relevant and how the psychology field has evolved
with psychoanalysis since Freud.
Edward Bernays is the father of public relations and he was
the nephew of Sigmund Freud. He used a lot of Freud’s ideas about unconscious
desires when he was starting the field of public relations. The field of PR has
definitely evolved just as psychoanalysis has evolved and it’s interesting to
look at the differences from then to now.
It was really interesting to learn about psychoanalysis and what Freud all did during his time. The relationship between Freud and his father in PR is very interesting. Great podcast, Ris!
