Social Media Audiences

Dynamic Yield Announces Audience Explorer- Actionable Segmentation

I've talked a lot about personal brand and brand voice in previous blogs. I think focusing on your brand is very important in how it relates to your audience. This chapter in our book talks about audiences. I think that on a social media platform you need to find a balance between two things: your brand and your audience's needs.

On any social media platform you have to stay true to yourself and your brand. After all, it is very difficult to write about something you aren't passionate about. But there is another key to this, the audience. Your brand would be essentially nothing in the world of social media without your audience. So you need to make sure that you are satisfying yourself and your vision for your brand, as well as listening to what your audience wants.

Depending on how you want to see the world of social media, you can see audience feedback as something really harmful or something really helpful. I personally believe that the best brands see all forms of audience feedback as helpful. Even if you have a specific vision for what you want, if your audience wants something else it is probably going to be more productive for you to follow along with the audience. While your brand should remain consistent, you have to be able to grow and develop with your audience. I would try to take their feedback and go with it. Even if it wasn't your first choice, using audience ideas makes them feel special and more likely to stay with the brand.
